As one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK, the recruitment industry is an extremely competitive environment, which, has meant that more and more companies are chasing the same recruitment mandates from employers and targeting the same talent pools.
Aggressive KPI cultures: This has meant that often recruiters adopt relatively aggressive KPI-focussed cultures where their Consultants are targeted, monitored and appraised on, amongst other things, the number of employers they call, the number of CVs they send out, the number of interviews they can arrange – even the amount of time they spend on the phone!
This explains why you might have: been bombarded by business development calls; received many inappropriate CVs (speculative or otherwise); been persuaded to interview unsuitable candidates; been coerced into being put forward for unsuitable roles; or simply struggled to receive feedback for a role that you’ve been put forward for.
In a culture where the Consultants are assessed on the volume of their actions the quality of the service delivered is dramatically affected as is the amount of time required.
A different approach: At Platinum Resources, we vehemently believe in a delivery focus where the quality and accuracy of our service is above and beyond all other factors. Recruitment should be much more than a “numbers game” and simply hoping for the best.
Clients: When working with employers we establish honest, open and collaborative working relationships as a business partner as opposed to being “just another supplier”. Less is more and we would rather have great working relationships with selected clients than average relationships with all and sundry. This enables us to provide a superior level of service, which, is what our clients should expect of us.
Candidates: We would also rather represent the sought-after individuals looking for their next career challenge, who will add value to our clients, as opposed to everyone within the market. This gives us more time to present suitable opportunities to you and to ensure that you are fully prepared throughout the interview/selection process.
